Ever had a job like this?
I've had jobs that were much worse than that.
After being let go from my last job, I told my wife, "I'm never going to have a job ever again!" and I started my own company.
But after a few years, I learned that it's hard as hell to build a company from scratch, even just to the point where you're paying your bills.
And it's even harder (especially these days) to grow your business to the point where you can afford the good life - nice house, clothes, food, kids, college.
(the good stuff in the video starts at 1:30)
Entrepreneurship should be hard. I like that it's hard. It makes it mean that much more when you succeed. But it should be a little easier... just a little easier...
... because now that I have a wife and a young daughter, I don't want to work 60 - 80 hours a week like I used to in my corporate jobs.
I want to be there when my daughter grows up. I want to be at her soccer games, her swim meets and her recitals. I want to be there when she needs help on her homework. I want to be there when her boyfriend breaks up with her. I want to continue building my relationship with my wife so it gets stronger and will be a source of joy and energy for both of us for many years.
I'm realizing more and more that connection and strong relationships with the ones we love is a required ingredient for a happy life, and I'm learning (finally) that we can't have it all.
Watch this video - it reveals conclusions from the longest happiness and health scientific study ever conducted:
So, it's no longer my goal to make millions.
But, I do want to make good money, so my family and I can enjoy life and not worry too much.
I know it's possible to be an entrepreneur, be successful, make the right amount of income for me, and be able to spend quality AND quantity time with those closest to me.
I want SUCESS AND BALANCE, WITHOUT A BOSS.
That's my new goal, and I'm already on way.
I've already figured out some stuff that really works.
On this site, I want to share that stuff with you, and more stuff that I learn along the way.
My hope is that I can help make entrepreneurship a little (or hopefully a lot) easier for you...
...so you can have success, the right amount of income for you, quality AND quantity time with the people closest to you, and a full and balanced life, with no boss.
